Japan to provide Rs 8.3 million for irrigation scheme
Posted by Labels: Financial Assistance, Japan, NGO, PakistanThe government of Japan has decided to extend financial support of $96,660 (approximately Rs 8.3 million) to NGO RORWALI for the construction of Concrete Irrigation Channel in Village Thakhtabad, Peshawar, said a press release issued here on Monday.
The agreement for the project was signed between Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi OE and RORWALI Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Khan here at the ambassador's residence.
The project is expected to benefit about 1,300 households (approximately 13,000 individuals).
Per acre yield as well as human productivity will be enhanced with the completion of the project.
The purpose of the project is to achieve constant and timely provision of irrigation water in the project area by cementing existing unpaved and muddy irrigation channel.
Through the project, farmers in the village and its surroundings will get water with consistent flow throughout the year.
Even the farmers on the tail of the channel would have sufficient water to irrigate their farmlands.
The people of village Takhtabad are grateful to the government and people of Japan.
It is pertinent to mention that RORWALI has already completed four projects of concrete irrigation water channels in the said village with the financial support of SRSP and Australian High Commission here.-PR
