The Role

This exciting role will see you working in a technical team focusing on the development of the Caspian Region. As a senior member of the team you will also be required to coach and mentor other team members, and provide support in their development.

Your main responsibilities will also include:

* Reservoir Simulation
* Reservoir Forecasting
* Well test Analysis
* Integrated Production Modelling
* Reservoir Studies

Education and Experience

Those who will be considered suitable will be educated to MSc level in Petroleum Engineering and will have a very strong background working on an international basis. Ideal candidates will have previous experience working in an Operator, and have some knowledge of the Caspian Region. Applicants must be competent in using the standard industry software, and working in a senior level position. Those who have coached and mentored junior team members will also be thought of as ideal.

Having successfully entered the Norwegian market they are now looking to expand the operation through acquisition of development or producing assets. With this in mind they are focused on securing an experienced Reservoir Engineering professional to build an industry leading PE team to manage assets and promote growth.

I am keen to hear form professionals with at least 12 years experience in the Petroleum Engineering discipline, the last three of which will have been spent in man-management roles with an operator. Exposure to working with G&G / BD teams to push through acquisition opportunities for the Norwegian North Sea.

Engineering & Projects Manager

Hydrocarbon Resources Limited (HRL) part of Centrica Energy owns and operates the Morecambe Gas Fields, as well as operating and supporting third party fields within the East Irish Sea. Our offshore Production Facilities, Onshore Processing Terminals and Support Base provide a complex and challenging operating environment. Within this vital part of Centrica’s business we now require an Engineering & Projects Manager.

The Engineering & Projects Manager will lead a multi-disciplined team of over 45 technical specialists providing a centre of excellence for engineering and project delivery at the assets, including 3rd party facilities.

This is an exciting role, offering the opportunity to develop innovative solutions that both minimise business risk as well as maximising value, ensuring production availability and reliability is maintained.

Reporting directly to the Asset Manager, this is a new department created due to a recent reorganisation and you will be a key member of the HRL Asset Management Team with responsibility for contracts worth up to £25m and budgets of up to £5m Opex and approx £30m Capex per year.

You will be expected to ensure that your team provides engineering expertise on a 365/24 hour response basis in order to ensure the operation remains fully available to meet production requirements whilst implementing new projects and minimising hazards.

Person Specification

An engineering graduate of chartered status, you will have proven knowledge of engineering practices and legislation with experience in a senior role in a major hazard process operation.

You will possess solid commercial skills with the ability to lead projects and procure contract services with a win/win partnering mindset.

You should be able to demonstrate a high level of self belief and assurance and be articulate and passionate about making a positive influence on the business and your team. You must have a sound commercial focus, able to ensure that sub-contract services are procured effectively in an environment where safety is critical.

As a member of the Asset Management Team, communication is vital in this role, as are demonstrable people management and leadership skills. You will appreciate that people are our greatest asset and be prepared to set expectations within your team. You should be a leader in ensuring excellent HS&E standards are maintained across the business and in reminding others that safety is our number 1 priority. Overall you must be able to lead by example and live the Centrica Leadership behaviours in setting standards of exemplary behaviour and integrity.

The Opportunity

The Process Engineer will provide process technical support for the safe and cost effective operation of onshore and offshore facilities within the Morecambe Fields, working within the Field Production Services Group, reporting to the Field Process Engineer. They will ensure that process plant performance is kept at optimum levels and also identify areas for improvement, undertaking trials and studies and suggesting the most economic option for future advances.

You will also be responsible for managing, initiating, monitoring and providing process input to plant modifications with a particular emphasis on waste management and the environment.

Developing the integration of various data reporting systems will also be a key responsibility and key decisions will centre around environmental and process improvements in areas such as plant availability and plant efficiencies.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Operations Manager for Drilling & Completions this role encompasses many functions including:

* Become proficient in the Company's portfolio of drilling and completions and data management technologies. Full training will be provided where required.
* Become proficient in the Company's implementation methodology and processes.
* Identify and build close relationships with the Client's petroleum and drilling community.
* Become the trusted advisor for all drilling and completions workflow matters at the client site.
* Ascertain your client's current workflows and devise a strategy to improve their workflow to maximize value in this area.
* Be proactive in promoting the improved workflow capabilities to the petroleum and drilling engineers and other relevant groups.
* Identify and document additional technologies required, help manage their implementation, build into their workflow and promote within.
* Provide advice and guidance for moderately complex problems relating to the operational use of their drilling and completions applications.
* Proactively transfer knowledge regarding technology updates and new product information to the engineers, and from the engineers back to relevant company personnel.
* Act in a professional and timely manner, ensuring client satisfaction is achieved at every point in the delivery of your consultancy.
* Develop professional relationships with team members, clients, and industry contacts.

* Excellent understanding of the full oil-life cycle, especially of the petroleum/drilling workflow essential.
* Highly analytical with the ability to resolve complex problems and articulate the solution effectively essential.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines, and conclude projects successfully essential.
* Previous experience in a consultancy role, in assessing technical requirements and the ability to succinctly convey into concise recommendations highly desirable.
* Good practical understanding of oil company data management highly desirable.
* Strong IT skills highly advantageous. Good understanding of Windows systems environment
* Good interpersonal and organisational skills required; adaptable, with a high degree of initiative. Must be able to handle challenging circumstances.

Candidates will have broad international experience, covering different reservoir types & depletion scenarios both on-shore and off-shore with the sensitivities required to work in different cultural environments.

Fluency in Norwegian is essential.
