Ukraine’s MHP Increased Chicken-Meat Production 7% Last Year

Chicken-meat production rose to 384,000 tons in 2011, the company said in an e-mailed statement today. Domestic demand for poultry remained high, Kiev-based MHP said in a statement. Sales volumes rose 12 percent to 370,900 tons in the year and 9 percent in the fourth quarter to 88,900 tons, according to MHP.
Exports of chicken meat in 2011 rose 80 percent compared with the year-earlier period and accounted for 10 percent of all chicken-meat sales, according to the statement. MHP opened new export markets and began sales to Libya, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Angola and other countries, it said.
MHP’s grain and oilseeds production in 2011 advanced by 88 percent to 1.7 million tons form a year earlier after the company increased its agricultural lands used for harvest to 250,200 hectares from 150,000 hectares in 2010.
Corn harvest advanced to 1.02 million tons compared with 492,600 tons in 2010, the company said. Rapeseed harvest rose to 25,400 tons from 9,000 tons a year before.
