More than Two Million Livestock Heads Vaccinated in North Darfur
Posted by Labels: Africa, Cattle and Livestock, Drugs and Vaccination(Sudan Vision) The Ministry of Animal Resources, Fisheries at the State of North Darfur has completed the vaccination of 2,118,436 livestock heads against animal diseases.
The campaign was completed through 21 teams of vaccination specialists which roved a number of localities in the state.
In addition, some 3,950,668 of various vaccination units were made available within the implementation of animal resources and fisheries sector's development program matrix for Darfur states.
Further, the federal government has allocated SDG 40 million for the implementation of the first stage projects in Darfur as a preferential advantage for enhancing government efforts to extend peace all over Darfur.
For his part, the minster of animal resources, fisheries at the state, Adam Hari Bosh announced during a review of his ministry's statement by the Sates' Legislative Assembly (SLA) in its fourth session Thursday headed by SLA's speaker, Abdel Rahman Ahmed Musa, that the state is free from epidemic diseases that threaten animals' health.
He added the ministry greatly counts on animal resources as being a main source of income for pushing the country's economy forward.
He said the ministry was able to make many achievements, including the receipt of SDG 6 million out of SDG 20 million that have been approved for the first stage projects at Darfur states in the form of equipment and vaccines.
The minister added his ministry has rehabilitated the ministry's head office building and provided it with furniture for improving working conditions for employees.
On the other hand, he said that some 98,465 heads of livestock (cattle, sheep and camels) were exported and that a quick survey was made for determining the position of animal resources at all localities.
The minister added that that 7,913 field specimen were checked, parasite, bacteria and virus diseases surveyed, with a disease map prepared.
In addition, the minister said El Fashir Research Laboratory has been rehabilitated, new equipment provided and large-size vehicles deployed in vaccination campaign.
On the other hand, he said the ministry had procured 4,000 broiler s and layer birds, 35,481 dozens of eggs and 554,835 tons of fodders.
Tractors and fodder packers were provided and some 258 veterinarian, technicians and assistants have been trained in the various fields of animal health care.
The minister added that his ministry has banned the use of medicine without prescription.
The ministry said his ministry give leather industry due care with 118,220 pieces of processed leather pieces having been transported from the state.
He added an integrated guidance unit has been established for the implementation of agricultural guidance project.
Meanwhile, the minister lauded the substantial support received by his ministry from the federal ministry of animal resources and fisheries, the state's government and relevant NGOs.
