THE Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) has produced 50,000 tonnes of fertiliser for the 2011/2012 farming season.
From the 50,000 tonnes, 30,000 were for the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and the rest for Nyiombo Investment whose order the company has just completed.

In response to a press query, NCZ marketing and sales manager Daniel Zyambo said the company had managed to produce the 30,000 tonnes of D Compound fertiliser for the government programme.
"We are just concluding 20,000 tonnes for Nyiombo Investment.
"From the above figures, we hope to perform beyond what we achieved last year," he said.
"However, we are still working on figures for next year as our financial year ends on March 31 but we hope to increase on this year’s figures by way of capturing more players on the market," Mr Zyambo said.
He said NCZ would like to start an ammonium nitrate plant with the already signed off-take agreement with Africa Explosives.
Mr Zyambo said lack of working capital was one of the challenges hindering the company from undertaking more production.
If upgraded the two plants at NCZ have the capacity to produce 142,000 tonnes of D Compound and Ammonium nitrate fertiliser.
