Nutrition and Sustainability
Posted bySeveral recent books and films in the last decade have supported the idea of sustainability and nutrition. University study and leaders in the Northwest community have helped to define how sustainability and protein processes are developed. Authors such as Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser have contributed to books and films such as Food Inc., Fast Food Nation, Omnivore's Dilemma, and In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto. These contributions have sparked university studies and helped to define the research conducted on the topics of nutrition and sustainability. Michael Pollan, a current Professor at UC-Berkeley, fosters these concepts and writes extensively on the issues of nutritional alternatives to the beef industry. There is an obvious direct correlation between the food that is readily available via the beef industry (protein) and the decreasing health of Americans.
