- Kentia Palm seed does not need light to germinate. Boxes can be stored in an enclosed environment, even a garage will suffice as long as the temperature doesn't get too hot or too cold inside. A preferred time to plant Kentia seed is in the late "Fall". Planting at this time sees a gradual warming of temperature in the Spring and Summer months and assists the development of the germination. Depending on the quality of the seed you have planted, germination using this planting method will start in about four to six months and a sixty to sixty five percent germination will occur in twelve to fifteen months.
