Romania proposes boycott of Dutch vegetables

"I think it's good not to buy Dutch vegetables," Basescu said on TV Sunday while shopping at a supermarket, adding that he prefers Spanish or Turkish produce.
His government has not taken steps to implement such a boycott, but in September Romanian authorities seized truckloads of tulips and bulbs from the Netherlands after the Dutch government said it would veto Romania's entry to the Schengen open borders policy.
Last week, Basescu criticized the Netherlands for doing that, calling it an "abuse." The Netherlands has demanded that Romania first step up its fight against corruption.
