Mumbai,(PTI) Linseed oil prices firmed up smartly in the mixed oils and oilseeds market here today due to good inquiries from the paint industry.
Meanwhile, castorseeds bold and castoroil commercial prices declined due to a lack of enquiries from shippers and soap manufacturers.
In futures trade, castorseeds also dropped on poor export orders amid weak spot demand.
On the other hand, groundnut oil and refined palmolein ruled steady in the absence of worthwhile buying activity.
In the non-edible section, linseed oil prices shot up by Rs 20 to Rs 760 per 10 kg from yesterday''s closing level of Rs 740.
Castorseeds bold prices fell by Rs 25 to Rs 4,150 per 100 kg from Rs 4,175 and castoroil commercial moved down by Rs 5 to Rs 860 per 10 kg from Rs 865 previously.
In the futures section, castorseed for December delivery resumed lower at Rs 3,920 per tonne and declined further to Rs 3,856 before settling at Rs 3,864, a Rs 98 fall from Rs 3,962 per tonne yesterday.
However, in the edible segment, groundnut oil and refined palmolein both closed flat at Rs 840 and Rs 570, respectively.
