Create your own spa through the comfort of your home with this indulgent face mask – without the extravagant price tag. This gorgeous mask clarifies the skin and improves its elasticity, while reducing dryness and flakiness. Rhassoul clay is a reddish-brown clay found beneath the famous Atlas Mountain Range in Morocco. Long used by the ancient Greeks and Romans, this cosmetic clay is a natural skin cleanser and detoxifier because of its absorbent quality. To boot, it contains mineral traces which removes impurities while nourishing skin. Kaolin clay, on the other hand, is a soft white clay which is great for skin exfoliation and healing. It also contains high amounts of minerals which is great for rejuvenation and blood circulation. Kaolin is also used as a scent fixative in  many cosmetic preparations, but it’s gentle on sensitive skin.

Phase A:

Rhassoul clay                  38%                                183 gm.

White kaolin clay             15%                                  72 gm.

Wheatgrass extract         0.5%                                    2 gm.

Phase B:

Distilled water                 34%                                 163 gm.

Vegetable glycerin            10%                                   48 gm.

Panthenol                         1%                                     5 gm.

Phytokeratin                   0.5%                                     2 gm.

Optiphen Plus                   1%                                      5 gm.

Procedure:

In a sterilized beaker, mix all the ingredients of phase A. Then, gradually add the ingredients of phase B while stirring continuously. Mix well until mask forms a smooth paste. Pour into sterilized jar.

To apply: Cleanse your face and neck. Pat it dry. Using a spatula or your fingers, spread the mask thinly on your face and neck, avoiding the eye and mouth area. For dry skin types, leave the mask for no more than 15 minutes, while oily skin types should not extend further than 25 minutes. Try not to contort your face, nor make any facial expressions during application. It is preferable to lie on the bed and close your eyes to promote relaxation and comfort. Wash your face afterwards using a mild cleanser, then moisturize.
