Dairy industry stakeholders will attend a conference in Kigali, Rwanda next month, to deliberate on issues affecting the sector in the region.

The sixth edition of The African Dairy Conference and Exhibition will bring together industry experts, practitioners, researchers and scholars in the dairy industry, from May 19 to 21.

The meeting will also be attended by financiers, distributors and marketers, as well as world dairy industry leaders.

Tetra Pak managing director, Mr Anders Lindgren, said the conference will present players a chance to address issues affecting the industry, especially in the Eastern African region.

“This conference should tackle the challenges the industry is now facing, among them the seasonality of milk production, efficiency and creating better value for consumers by introducing affordable dairy products,” he said.

Tetra Pak is one of the sponsors of the event.

Held under the theme, “African Dairy: Competitive and Sustainable?”

It is estimated that about 900 delegates will attend the conference.

Kenyan players will be especially keen to attend the conference in the wake of significant developments on the production, processing and marketing systems in the sector.

Industry statistics indicate that Kenya is the third-largest milk producer in Africa after Sudan and Egypt
